Tippens Education Center Principal Kim Barger
Why did you choose to become a Principal?
One of the reasons I became a principal is that I was confronted with a new avenue to apply the skills and passion I had developed in my years as a Special Education facilitator, which allowed me to have a greater impact on supporting teachers as they perform the monumental task of teaching our students. I had the honor of growing up in the Cherokee County School District and had the good fortune of having so many dedicated and committed administrators; it has been a great privilege of now following in their footsteps.
What inspires you in your work as a Principal?
I am inspired watching our students successfully transition back into their home schools, where they are able to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. It is also inspiring for our team to see a family regain hope for the future of their child. It is the purpose for the work we do each and every day at Tippens Education Center.
How are you Elevating the Excellence in your school?
We are elevating the excellence by continuously searching for professional development opportunities for our teachers and support staff to be able to build strong relationships and better understand the needs of our students. In addition to our phenomenal teachers, we have a very strong support staff who are able to reach out to different organizations to find the best way to support our families and their specific needs. We are also continuously looking for new and innovative ways to support the district by sharing our unique behavior knowledge and skill set.
